The Rogue Wild Pitch
Have your expectations ever been completely shattered? Well, that's exactly what happened to me this past Saturday. With my father, I attended the MEAC championship game that featured the Spartans of Norfolk State and the Eagles of North Carolina Central. It was a beautiful day for baseball with temperatures in the high 80s and the atmosphere was palpable. The game was thrilling and a lot better than I'd thought it would be, lasting 11 innings with a walk-off base hit in the 11th by Alsander Womack to win 7-6 for Norfolk State to clinch the MEAC championship and a bid to the NCAA D-1 baseball tournament. Prior to the walk-off, during warm-ups in the bottom of the 11th, pitcher Caleb McRoy took the mound. His first couple of throws looked a little shaky but then he threw the wildest pitch that has ever been thrown.
